🌿 The Power of Forgiveness: Freeing Yourself and Finding Inner Peace

The Healing Power of Forgiveness | Balance and Body Hampshire

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful acts of self-healing. Whether you’re learning to forgive others or yourself, it opens the heart and restores emotional, physical and spiritual balance. Whether its your childhood friend, your parents, your partner or ex partner, the person who shouted at you, your school teacher, that person who bullied you or walked away from you there is always someone we need to truly forgive to free ourselves.

Wings spread, gliding through seamless weighless air = Freedom Nothing sticks, nothing restricts, nothing constrains = Freedom Freedom from Forgiveness

Forgiveness allows your mind, body and soul to return to inner peace. It’s a vital part of emotional wellbeing and self healing and a gift that brings release, lightness, and

emotional freedom. When we forgive, we open our hearts to peace, allowing our

energy to flow freely again helping you let go of what no longer serves your highest

good, letting go of anxiety, or even physical tension. This is a gift you can gift yourself each year to always be allowing the energy to flow.

Wayne Dyer tells the story of the snake bite, it is not the snake bite that kills but the

venom that works its way around the body which eventually is the killer. Resentment

acts in a similar way holding itself in the body, the only person it hurts is you and

eventually it has no choice but to turn into a physical manifestation as it has no way of releasing without the act of Forgiveness. This is the very 'intravenous drip' which

cleanses out the venom and runs clean and clear through your body.

🌾 The Beauty of Self-Forgiveness

Self-forgiveness is often the most difficult as we are always harder on ourselves than

others yet this is the most liberating part of the healing journey. Forgiving your younger self, acknowledging that all your experiences have brought you to the here and the

now a time of growth, transformation and delayering.

Instead of judging yourself for what you “should have done,” try viewing your past

choices as lessons. When you bring compassion to yourself, you dissolve guilt and

open the heart chakra to love and understanding.

Forgiveness is how you gently remind yourself: I was doing the best I could with what

I knew then.

🔼 The Energy of Forgiveness

Energetically, forgiveness is a release. It clears blocked emotions, raises your vibration,

and restores harmony to your energy body and your physical body. It is also a vital key to allowing Abundance to flow, when we clench, restrict and hold onto things we are blocking the flow of receiving and we block the abundance of love and compassion and the things we want in our life.

🌿 Resentment in Chinese Medicine

Primary organ affected is the Liver (associated with the emotion of anger, frustration,

and resentment)

The Liver in TCM governs the smooth flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. When emotions like resentment or suppressed anger are held onto, they cause Liver Qi stagnation and the energy becomes stuck.

Physical manifestations of resentment (Liver Qi stagnation)

  • Tightness or pain in the chest, ribs, or upper abdomen

  • Digestive issues (bloating, IBS-type symptoms, nausea)

  • Tension headaches or migraines

  • PMS, menstrual cramps, or irregular cycles (especially when linked with mood swings)

  • Muscle stiffness, particularly in the neck and shoulders

  • Fatigue, irritability, sighing often (“Qi trying to move”)

  • Sleep disturbance (especially waking around 1–3 a.m., the Liver’s energetic time)

Emotional & energetic signs

  • Feeling “stuck” in life or unable to move forward

  • Bitterness, suppressed anger, or long-held grudges

  • Difficulty expressing true feelings

  • A sense of being burdened or emotionally heavy

When you let go of old pain, you make space for joy, love, and clarity. Your relationships shift, your breath deepens, and your body feels lighter because your energy is

flowing freely again.

Forgiveness Practices at Home

Try This Forgiveness Practice at Home

  1. Find a quiet space and place a hand over your heart.

  2. Breathe deeply and repeat: “I forgive myself for not knowing better then."

  3. If it is your younger self you are forgiving, dropping your attention to your sacral/womb area imagine yourself at the age you were and 'be with them'. Say to them you see them, you acknowledge them, you know they were only doing the best they could.

  4. Allow the emotions to come up and flow to release whatever needs to be released

  5. Write a letter to yourself or the person you are wanting to forgive and say everything you ever wanted to say, release the energy out onto paper and burn the paper in a fire.

Healing Practice for the Liver through forgiveness

Forgiveness is considered one of the most powerful ways to restore Liver flow — it transforms stagnant energy (resentment) into movement and renewal.

TCM recommends supporting this process through:

  • Movement: yoga, stretching, qigong, walking outdoors

  • Herbal & dietary support: green leafy vegetables, lemon, dandelion, milk thistle,

    and warm water with citrus

  • Aromatherapy: lavender, rosemary, or chamomile essential oils to soothe Liver Qi

  • Sound & breath work: long exhalations or humming to move energy through the

    chest

  • Emotional release work: forgiveness practices, journaling, or guided energy healing

🌾 The Hawaiian Practice of Ho‘oponopono: Healing Through Love and Forgiveness

One of the most beautiful forgiveness tools comes from ancient Hawaiian wisdom the practice of Ho‘oponopono (pronounced ho-oh-pono-pono).

It’s a gentle, powerful process of reconciliation, self-responsibility, and emotional

cleansing.

At its heart, Ho‘oponopono teaches that everything we experience, including our relationships and challenges, is connected to our inner world. When we bring love and forgiveness to ourselves, we shift not only our energy, but the energy of the situations

and people around us.

💗 The Four Healing Phrases

The Ho‘oponopono prayer is simple, yet profoundly transformative:

I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.

From an energetic perspective, Ho‘oponopono clears emotional memory

The unseen patterns or blocks that keep us tied to pain. By consciously bringing

forgiveness and love into those spaces, we release emotional density and return to our natural state of harmony.

This practice reminds us that forgiveness starts within. When we offer healing to

ourselves, we naturally radiate that peace outward into our relationships, our

homes, and our world. our shared humanity.
